Skills Competition

The WHGANY Team Invitational Golf Tournament includes a riveting chip and putt skills competition. On either of the tournament days before play, the competitors embark to emerge victorious by achieving the lowest team 9 hole total score. The competition takes place on the putting green and chipping/short game area where some particularly challenging "holes" are presented to challenge the participants. The winning team is awarded the coveted Ray Fontaine Bowl.

Tournament Formats

The tournament is played over two days. Day one is two-man scramble format. Both players hit their tee shot, the best ball is chosen, then both players hit their second shot from that location. This is repeated until the first ball goes in the cup, which determines the score. Each team must play a minimum of seven tee shots from each player. The winning team is awarded the coveted Bob Mustard Bowl. Day two is more of a grind. Players play their own ball and the format is net two-man best-ball format, where the score used is the lower net score of the two on each hole. The winning team is awarded the coveted Audie Knight Bowl. The players on the team with the lowest combined score over two days become the WHGANY Champions and are awarded the coveted Jack Bailey Bowl.

Dinner, Honors & Awards

After the final day of tournament play, team members and spouses or significant others gather in the Eastward Ho! Country Club dining room for cocktail hour, dinner, and the award ceremony. It is at this time that scholarship recipients are announced and honored. The recipients are presented with their awards and congratulated by the committee and by WHGANY participants.
